WHAT: A celebration will be held in the library at Middletown High School to recognize the 40th anniversary of the state's first school-based health center, located at Middletown High School.
WHY: School Based Health Center seeks to promote preventive health care and healthy lifestyles for children and adolescents through the delivery of medical and nutritional services, mental health counseling, health education, and community and social services. SBHCs remove barriers to care while also providing a supportive environment where students can achieve their full potential academically and socially.
Today, there are 56 school-based health centers (SBHCs) across the state of Delaware, serving students from elementary through high school. Operating more than two dozen of these SBHCs, ChristianaCare leverages its expertise in primary care, behavioral health, nutrition and community health to improve the health and well-being of Delaware’s children and adolescents.
WHO: The celebration will include remarks from:
• Gov. Matt Meyer
• Sen. Nicole Poore
• Middletown Mayor Kenneth Branner

• Jacqueline Ortiz, M.Phil., Chief Community Health Impact Officer, ChristianaCare
