Take Charge of Your Mental Health: ChristianaCare Hosts Free Screenings for National Depression Screening Day on October 9

Depression is more than just feeling down – it can disrupt your everyday life. It is a common mental health condition that can affect anyone, regardless of age or background.

A simple screening can help you understand your mental health and connect you with resources if needed.

In recognition of National Depression Screening Day on Thursday, October 9, ChristianaCare, in partnership with the Mental Health Association of Delaware, will provide free, confidential depression screenings from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Annex Parking Lot, 1400 Washington Street, across the street from ChristianaCare's Wilmington Campus. No appointment is necessary.

“Understanding mental health is the first step toward healing,” said Mustafa A. Mufti, M.D., chair of the ChristianaCare Department of Psychiatry. “By offering free, confidential screenings, we hope to raise awareness about depression and encourage individuals to seek the support they deserve. It’s essential that our community knows they are not alone.”

For individuals who score high on screenings and indicate a risk of suicide, onsite assistance will be available, and those individuals will be escorted to the Emergency Department on campus for further evaluation and support.
