Innovative ideas lead to better patient outcomes
Osborne’s dedication to providing outstanding patient care through transformative and innovative ideas inspired her manager, Crystal Hogate, to nominate her for the award.
“Yalanda proposed a solution to the Technology Council that allows for the documentation of patients’ food intake during the night shift,” Hogate wrote. “Yalanda’s innovative idea to improve our documentation system will provide a significant impact on patient outcomes.”
Understanding the importance of food to a patient’s care plan, Osborne knew that all eating activities, even those late at night, needed to be considered. Her close work with patients continues to inspire new ways of care.
“This enhancement is crucial as it helps in monitoring patients’ nutritional status more accurately, preventing unnecessary feeding tubes, and may be shown to ultimately reduce the length of hospital stays.” said Hogate.
