Beam-Signing Celebrates Construction Milestone for ChristianaCare Hospital, Aston, PA

ChristianaCare and leaders in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, celebrated a milestone in the construction of ChristianaCare Hospital, Aston on July 9. A ceremonial beam-signing marked the completion of the structural phase of construction. Located at 700 N. Turner Way, ChristianaCare Hospital, Aston remains on track to open in the second half of 2026. ChristianaCare is developing the hospital in partnership with Emerus Holdings, Inc., the nation’s leading developer of neighborhood hospitals.

“This is an exciting moment, not just for ChristianaCare, but for the Aston community,” said Pauline Corso, president of Ambulatory Network Continuity and Growth at ChristianaCare. “We’re building more than just a hospital," she said. "We’re building relationships, trust and access to much-needed care where people live. It’s been incredible to see this hospital take shape, and we can’t wait to welcome our neighbors through the doors.”

Unlike standalone emergency departments or urgent care centers, the 20,000-square-foot ChristianaCare Hospital, Aston will be a fully licensed, small-format hospital that’s open 24/7. It will include a full-service emergency department that can treat common emergencies like falls, injuries, heart attacks and strokes, a 10-bed inpatient unit, diagnostic imaging (CT, X-ray, ultrasound), laboratory services and access to virtual consultations with specialists in fields such as cardiology and neurology. Staffed by board-certified physicians, experienced nurses and a skilled care team, the hospital is designed to provide safe, efficient care close to home. The second floor will house a health center that offers outpatient services, including primary and specialty care, ensuring residents have access to comprehensive, patient-centered care right in their community.

ChristianaCare Hospital, Aston is one of three neighborhood hospitals ChristianaCare is bringing to southeastern Pennsylvania as part of its commitment to close care gaps and meet growing community needs. In addition to Aston, a hospital has been approved for Springfield Township, and ChristianaCare will open its first Pennsylvania hospital in West Grove this summer. ChristianaCare also recently announced it was the successful bidder in a competitive auction for several Crozer Health outpatient centers in Glen Mills, Havertown, Broomall and Media. These additions, currently expected to be transitioned to ChristianaCare following settlement of the transaction later this summer, will further strengthen ChristianaCare’s ability to provide timely, high-quality care throughout the region. Together, the hospitals and outpatient centers represent a significant investment in restoring access to care following the closure of multiple health care facilities across southeastern Pennsylvania. ChristianaCare’s approach ensures more residents can receive the care they need, when and where they need it most.
